Beginning in Islamabad, the journey flies north to Skardu before continuing by road to Askole, the final settlement before the Karakoram closes in. From here the trail follows the Braldu River, climbs through scrub and juniper, and eventually commits to the ice of the Baltoro Glacier. Each day brings a new rank of peaks into view until you reach Concordia, the vast glacial junction where K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, and Gasherbrum II dominate the horizon. The trek is physically demanding but non-technical. Days are spent walking on moraine, loose rock, and glacier ice, with several camps sitting above 4,000 metres.
